Abstract, expressive minimalism; Leitmotif surreal dysfunctional chairs

Welcome to my page, here I show my life's work. My painting is executed in automatic painting with dried oil on vintage paper

Art as a process

With dried oil on yellowed vintage paper I had to develop my own technique in order to achieve the dry, pastell-like look of the paint

Abstract Minimalism

By using as little oil paint and as few brush strokes as possible I try to create beauty and pleasing compositions while keeping the art minimal

Expressive Creativity

The expressive process uses a spontaneous form of automatic painting in a reduced colour palette on warmly coloured vintage paper

Sesselwahn -
Surreal dysfunctional chairs

With a preference for abstraction, I use a self-taught technique of dried oil on old, yellowed paper (the back of old cards) to create works that express human emotions, fears and dreams, as well as my experiences as a homosexual migrant growing up in poverty in an intolerant environment. The goal is a constant improvement in technique as well as clearer imagery and more refined compositions.

Growing up bilingual with a painter and visual artist for a mother, going to school in Prague, homosexual, Asperger's autistic and a permanent "foreigner", always perceiving society from the perspective of a stranger, a third party. My search for beauty in the world gave rise to my love of simple, highly reduced compositions.

My mother trained me in automatic drawing and painting as a child and I took classes in painting. Influenced by my mother's spontaneous symbolism, I learned to paint freehand.

Inspired by the timeless symbolism of Egyptian hieroglyphics and Japanese caligraphy, I use the leitmotif of surreal, dysfunctional armchairs the armchair mania or - Sesselwahn in German - to communicate emotions and queer experiences in automatic painting
